Maximum Data Speed Gpu Depack

TXG/MNX

Recommended Posts

Hi,

How much data could be depacked by the GPU in 1 frame in theory?

Anyone test something like this already ?

That's a good question, do you want to do real time depacking ? ;)

In theory i don't know, we need to do test, but before we have to optimise the unpacker rout before testing it.

Depending on the depack rout I would imagine the final "throughoutput" in bytes/s would depend on the type of data beeing depacked..

Atleast thats the case when packing it.. It takes different time to pack depending on how "complex" the data is.... and unless im mistaken the situation is similar when depacking...

Depacking a sprite with mostly black areas takes shorter than one with allot of unique , varying, pixels...

IF i understood correctly.. though I never had to pack anything for the jag ..yet =) ...
