  1. (old posts are there, I chose to create a new topic to have a central location for download and comments)

I've just updated my modified version of Bastian Schick's and friends BJL uploader program, called lo_inp, which supports Windows NT/2000/XP. Support for Linux has been (re)-added (by special request from SebRmv ;), and minor tweaks have been made.

Enjoy, and please give feedback !

  2. Updated software -> updated bug report :P

    converter_0.1.6.png

Well, it's better that it was. :)

But there are still weird things on the converted picture : yellowed areas (look around the eye of the left-side parrot, for example), and a visible "separation line" on the background.

  3. Sorry SebRmv, here's a bug report ;)

There seems to be a problem with the dithering algorithm.

    Here's the original picture :

Here's the result of tga2cry with options -binary -dither -f cry :

And here's the result of converter with options -cry --binary --no-clut --16-bits --normal --both :

  4. on the other hand Hubs/switches & TP cable are almost a standard today and cabling are most probably already done in a house..
Yep... but I was thinking about improvised multiplayer tournaments at conventions :)

perhapps some day an online gaming would open new doors for jag fans.. (that cant go to rgc/jagfiest for a quick game with a friend...could easily game online with them...)
It will still be possible, and with the computer handling the Internet access part, JagCF games won't have to worry about things like proxies and firewalls ;)

Anyway nice to see progress! =) (though i didnt understand that Spy thing... (is it for eavesdropping on communication? isnt that just a debugtool? or is it actually usable for something usable?)
It's just a debug tool we'll use when writing the network code :)

  5. With an ethernet interface, all that would've been required is a wireless gaming adapter.
We did not choose Ethernet because we wanted to keep the network feature simple and easy to develop for. The advantages are that almost everything is handled in hardware (the software "stack" is very small), and the connections are made using inexpensive and easy to find audio cables (no hubs/switches are needed).

There is a company making a wireless USB connection, that may work..
The port on the JagCF is a "USB device", not a "USB host", so it won't work, sorry.

  6. If I wrote a telnet application, for example, would this work on the internet?

This could be a nice feature.

Not directly, as the network will not be based on Ethernet and TCP/IP.

But it could be implemented by connecting the JagCF (through USB) to a computer with an Internet connection, and running a "gateway" program on the computer.

  7. Hi swapd0!

Here are the latest Catnip news.

First, we've decided to integrate the USB updating and high-speed serial communication directly into the JagCF. This will be easier and cheaper for the users (and it simplifies a few things for us too ;)).

My work is currently focused on this, so as to be able to release the JagCF (hopefully) soon.

For the BJL uploading feature, we have not decided what to do yet (there's no point of including it in the JagCF, since a custom protocol will be much faster and more reliable). One option I'm considering is releasing the PCB and schematics for free.

    Regarding the Mac compatibility :

I did a test port of the software to MacOS X some time ago, and it seemed to work fine.

However I don't own a Mac (someone kindly lent me a iBook for the test), and I know next to nothing about Mac development, so I would need a volunteer to maintain the port and produce the binaries.

  8. Hi,

How active is this topic, I would love to see a cross gcc to compile for the jag...

    TXG/MNX

Is this not what you're looking for ? :

I use a cross gcc (old version 3.3.6) to compile 68k code and I interface this with assembly code that I assemble with MadMAC

Then I link all together with ALN

    Please check this:

    and the tools/libs/sources there:

    Cheers

Or do you have something different in mind ?

  9. I've noticed that every time my computer's IP address changes, I have to log in again with my username and password. On other Invision-based forums (such as AtariAge), I don't have to do this (as long as I don't delete the forum cookies, of course).

Is it a deliberate choice ? Can this be changed ?
