OK, so you've tried RAPTOR Basic, and it's a nice step into the strange world of Jaguar development, and while it is perfect for beginners, it's a little slow for all you master BASIC guys out there more used to the likes of GFA and other more modern versions of the language.

Here is RAPTOR Basic+ - a compiled, high speed BASIC development environment based around BCX. Some of the RAPTOR Basic examples have been rebuilt in RAPTOR Basic+ and they now fly instead of crawling. We'll try and build on these in the coming weeks and months.

RAPTOR Basic and RAPTOR Basic+ will both continue to be worked on as they offer different levels of entry into the wonderful world of home brew coding on the Jaguar. They will keep the same revision numbers as commands and functions get added to both.

The latest version of RAPTOR Basic+ can be found here:

Ver 0.1.8 - http://reboot.atari.org/new-rebo…/…/RAPTOR_Basic+_v0.1.8.zip

Note: RBasic+ contains a 64bit version of VirtualJaguar - for all you people hanging on to crusty revisions of windows, replace it with the 32bit version.

Hello,

I recently wanted to replace original Atari MadMac and ALN from my toolchain, because the available binaries for Linux are old executables which are more and more difficult to run on recent Linux distro.

I failed to replace ALN by RLN because it lacks support for archive files (used to make library of objects).

As I had a few days off, I decided to write my own linker using a high-level language (namely OCaml).

I have reached a point where I have something that seems to work and thus I wanted to share this development with the community.

The source code is available on my github repository. As I know that installing the ocaml toolchain on Windows can be a bit tedious, I have also made available on The Removers website a 32 bits binary for Windows (of the current version).

I am happy to hear your feedback regarding this tool (especially Windows users, because I use myself Linux version).

Hello there Atari peeps, James from RGCD here with a quick cut 'n' paste press release. Feel free to ask any questions below.

Jagware presents a new Atari Jaguar CD compilation of four puzzle games from four groups; Do The Same from Cerebral Vortex, Diamjag by Orion, Atomic Reloaded from The Removers, and Beebris by Reboot - all four of which support online scoreboards. But that's not all - also included is an exclusive early look at the alpha build of 'Project II', Reboot's ambitious forthcoming horizontal scrolling shmup.

Click here to view a preview video of the contents (recorded by SH3-RG)

CVSD's Do The Same is a beautifully presented tile-rotation game where your goal is to match a given pattern of blocks in as few moves as possible (and before the time runs out). A highly polished release featuring backgrounds based on hand-crafted clay models and 112 levels to beat, Do The Same was previously available on CD in very limited quantities - now those who missed it in physical form have the chance to grab it again!

Next up is Atomic Reloaded, a logic puzzle game inspired by Thalion's Atomic in which you are tasked with creating molecules from their component atoms by moving them around a maze. Described as 'Atomic as it should have been', Atomic Reloaded features 82 original levels guaranteed to challenge even veterans of the original!

Diamjag is an early release from the prolific Jaguar coder Orion, in which you must guide a ball-like character around 28 single-screen mazes collecting diamonds - the catch being that when your ball starts rolling you wont stop again until you hit a wall!

Reboot, the organisers of this project have contributed Beebris, their updated Jaguar conversion of one of Law's old Atari ST releases based on a 'popular tetronimo game'. With four game modes, each with forty levels of difficulty, Beebris remains one of Reboots more popular additions to the Jaguar homebrew catalogue.

Jagware Collection One is a superb compilation of games, but if you want further incentive to pick up a copy you may wish to consider that all profits made through sales of this Jagware release will be going toward funding future Jaguar hardware development by SCPCD, creator of the JagCF and the Jagtopus 4-cart programmer - the format on which future cartridge games will be distributed.

The physical release comes cellophane wrapped in a clear DVD box with full colour, double-sided printed inlay on a full face printed, glass-mastered CD, direct from the factory (100% professionally produced in the UK). Instructions for each game are included on the inside of the inlay. It requires no additional hardware to run other than the Jaguar CD console itself. As an added bonus, a vinyl Reboot sticker will be included with every order.

Priced at £24 (plus £4 UK/Europe shipping, £5 rest of world) Jagware Collection 1.0 is available to buy from the RGCD shop page today!

BLACKOUT! Released now

BLACKOUT! Is officially released and ready for purchase!

For the moment we only have 23 copies available (out of the planned 25 due to bad chips).

If these copies do well, we will do a second release of 25 carts, and then a third larger release for CD. Followed by the free binary release!

Key features of the game:

• BJL Loader.

Yes, that’s right! This game can also be used as a development tool for aspiring coders!

• Game Box

Printed in non-laminated uncoated cardstock similar to the original box style and designs used for old Jaguar releases. We went against the glossy boxes because lamination peels over time. This release includes original Atari bags, white cardstock inserts, and game instruction card. Each box is numbered.

• Game Features

4+stages with over 40 levels total.

Power-ups, a timer, pumping music by C-Trix, and some goofy extras.

This game is more than just another lights out.

Media:

NOTE:

50hz PAL Mode is disabled in this release. This is due to originally starting with buggy video code and finding this out much later in development. Reworking to accommodate PAL video mode would be more trouble than its currently worth at the moment, which would delay the release considerably. We apologize in advance for those using only PAL systems, however a 50/60HZ Mod switch will take care of this as the video mode for the game only runs in NTSC 60hz. If booted on a PAL machine it will display an error message informing of the swap necessary. Future developments have already had this issue resolved and should not be a problem.

We personally dont believe in releasing a certain number of hard copies and then not making it available to download for those that have missed out and causing people to resell releases for insane prices. Hence the free release later on. We hope this helps curb the issue a little bit...

Your continued support of homebrew development releases from ANY group will allow developers to continue releasing hard copies for those that would like them.

Check out website for a Paypal purchase link and please limit to 1 copy if possible so everyone may have a chance. If the link doesn’t allow you to purchase anything, that means we ran out of copies.

Enjoy!!

I have finally released a first version of the library I am working on since several months. It includes some new functionnalities and lots of improvements compared to the first library I released in last june. The interfacing of your code (either C or ASM) with it should be easier now.

You can download it there:

http://removers.free.fr/softs/download.php?lang=en

It is released under the LGPL. In particular, you can link freely your own code with the library but if you improve my library then you should redistribute the source code under at least the LGPL terms.

In addition, you can find also tiny C library for use with the cross gcc compiler available on the download page indicated above.

I have also written a little article in french about my working environment here:

http://removers.atari.org/spip/

I intend to write some other articles and distribute some examples to show how to use all this.

Enjoy!
